When it comes to car parts, probably the most neglected among
them are the tires (on Finnish they are called renkaat).
However, they are responsible for the traction between the car
and the road, so they need to be properly maintained and handled
with great care.

The tires affect the handling and steering capabilities of your
vehicle, so when they are not in good condition the risks of
getting involved in a traffic accident are higher. Furthermore,
you will worsen the fuel efficiency of your vehicle, so you will
spend a lot more money for fuel.

In order to keep your tires (autonrenkaat) and yourself safe in your
car, you should always check the pressure of your tires. You
should have the pressure in your tires checked at least once a
month. The pressure in your tires naturally goes down gradually
every month or so, so it is necessary to check and refill your
tires with air if necessary. To make this easier, you can buy a
digital tire gauge to see the pressure of the car and make sure
that it is always at a safe level. You can check your owner’s
manual to see what pressure your car’s tires should be at to
have them performing at top level.

If you have an underinflated tire, then you should definitely
have it fixed as soon as possible. Aside from making the car
ride uncomfortable and hard to manage, it can also use up more
petrol. Also, your tire can heat up faster if it is not inflated
properly, and this could become tire failure.

One of the most important things that you should take care of is
your spare tire. When one of your tires losses air, you will
have to replace it, so with properly maintained spare tire you
will not have any troubles at all. However, make sure that your
spare tire is properly inflated, because otherwise you will not
be able to use it when you need.

Regularly check the tread of your tires. If you notice that it
is too worn out, simply replace them with new ones. There are
many simple tests that you can do at your garage to measure the
debt of the tread, so you will not have to worry about buying
special equipment.

If your summer tires are not wearing out at the same rate this
is a sure sign that your car is not balanced properly. Therefore
if you notice such issue, take it to a mechanic, because
otherwise you will worsen its handling capabilities. To read more
