* Honda S2000 - Experts describe the Honda S2000 as a purist's sports car that's happy on the street or
the track. It combines quick, telepathic steering with feline responses and right-now
braking. This is one of those rare sports cars that becomes an extension of the driver's will. High Points: Best-in-class chassis, laser-exact
steering, precision gearbox, world-class brakes, enduring good looks. Low Points: Modest torque output, no glove-box, the ride may be stiff for
some people, and has smallish trunk space.
* Pontiac Solstice - This nice little car employs a "what the' hellizzat?" styling and a solid chassis
making it a worthy low-buck sports car, despite having a rough four-cylinder engine
and cheap plastic interior. High Points: Its Fourth-of-July styling, a stiff platform, and faithful and predictable handling makes the Solstice
stand out in a crowd. It also offers a supple ride and loyal tracking producing a terrific long-distance cruiser. Low Points: The Solstice is
about 400 pounds too heavy, and the engine runs rough. It also offers no luggage space, a cheap-looking interior, and dropping the top becomes a
chore.
* Volkswagen Beetle - This car holds the title of "cutest" car on the market today. Some might even say
it's still the most fun to drive as well. Volkswagen is making a few cosmetic changes to
the Beetle hardtop version and the convertible such as a new front and rear fascia hoping to give it a more up-to-date look.
High Points: It's still known for its iconic shape, plus the power-operated top is easy to operate. The build quality is impressive. Low
Points: The five-cylinder drones a little. Tight rear-seat space and a limited trunk space make the Beetle a little passenger unfriendly.
